Description

In the Edo era, Gotenyama was one of the most famous places where people enjoyed cherry blossoms as well as views of Mt. Fuji and the sea.

On a beautiful spring day, people appear happy under the full bloom of cherry blossoms. Each person enjoys this environment in their own way; some spread mats for picnics with sake, while others stroll around with children or dance merrily while drinking. The scene conveys a peaceful and heartwarming impression.

For this image, Hokusai didn't use any unique or novel techniques but fully utilized his skill to depict the scene.
