Description
This is the most famous image from the series '36 Views of Mt. Fuji.' Hokusai skillfully employed varying depths of Prussian Blue to depict wildly swelling waves, boats rocking aggressively, and the distant presence of Mount Fuji.
Hokusai's calculated composition contrasts the turbulent waves with the serene and undisturbed Fuji, creating a striking visual effect. Observing the wild waves and passengers tightly gripping the sides of the boats, viewers may feel dizzy.
The waves are depicted without clear borders, utilizing Bokashi gradation techniques. While this masterpiece demands very high craftsmanship skills, enthusiast will hugely appreciate their efforts.
