Description
The viewers will have a quiet and peaceful impression from this image. All the land, including the slope areas is cultivated as terraced fields.
In the lower center, a farm woman with a baby on her back, holding something like a hoe, is visible; at her side is a child. Moving our eyes to the right, two men appear to be talking. As Meguro was well know as falconry area for many Daimyo as well as the Shogun, and the left man is holding a falcon, they must be falconers. A farmer is kneeling down and appear to be listening to the men.
At left, above the houses of thatched roofs, a farmer is going up the hill with his working tool. Although this is a hilly area, we still see Mt. Fuji in the distance. While the original was an ai-zuri, which used only blue colors with different shades, quite a few soft colors are applied in this version of the image.
