Description

Most lines and areas are depicted using Prussian Blue; exemptions seem to be red for the kites, people and clouds, and black for the fire-lookout tower. Hokusai exaggerated the size of the temple roof, so the people working on it appear smaller than they should. Although these details may seem unnatural, the overall image is quite attractive in its bold composition.

This temple originally was located in Kanda but was moved to Asakusa after being destroyed in a fire in 1662.

By the way, where is this view from? The viewer seems to be 'standing' almost at the same height as the roof of the temple! How did Hokusai see this?
