Description
A narrow footpath between rice fields leads to Ishiyakushi Temple. The buildings around the temple are Ishiyakushi station.
As the next station (Shono) is only 3 km away, most travelers rested here for a short time and then headed for Shono rather than staying here.
The mountains seen far away are the Suzuka mountains. Hiroshige used different colors and gradation technique on the mountains and succeeded in depicting the dynamic view.
As many piles of rice straws are seen in the fields, this is a scene of late autumn or early winter. Two farmers are cultivating the land and another two locals are walking toward the temple carrying something together. In front of the temple gate, a few people, presumably visiting the temple, are seen.
This is a picturesque and serene countryside scene around Ishiyakushi Temple.
