Description
This is the continuation from the previous image, seeing the same place from the opposite side. The large palanquin presumably holding a Daimyo must be very heavy because it is being carried by more than 20 people. On the other side of the river some naked men are relaxing on the ground presumably tired after carrying people.
Far away among the mountains we can see Kanaya station. Hiroshige drew the river in close range view in dark blue, the many people crossing the sand bank in tiny sizes, the mountains surrounding the Kanaya station with deep green and the far away high mountains in gray.
Our eyes move from the left lower corner to upper part of the image where the far away mountains are towering. Seeing this wide view gives the illusion that we are actually looking at this scene from a very high spot!
