Description

This depicts the annual horse fair that took place in Chiryu every early summer in those times.

Numerous horses are visible, tethered to poles driven into the field. Beneath the towering pine tree at the center, a congregation of people must be doing lively horse bidding.

Towards the left center, two men laboriously carry what appears to be heavy loads - looks like some food - heading towards the gathering spot. They may be selling lunches for gathering people.

In this vast field, horses from distant locations have been brought for sale, currently at ease, grazing on the grass. While the scene brings tranquility, one can imagine the vigorous auction taking place beneath the tree.

We can only hope that each of those horses finds compassionate and caring new owners.
