Description
From Fuchu station to the next Mariko station travelers had to cross the deep and wide Abe river.
Hiroshige depicted how people crossed this river in detail and we see different methods of making the crossing according to the rank - from the lady on the palanquin carried by 4 laborers to the person keeping his own clothes on top of his head and wading through the stream.
Hiroshige put the publisher’s symbol on the back of the man at far right.
