Description
This image has a very uplifting feeling: in a gusty day two travelers are struggling with the strong wind. The man on the left is chasing his straw hat and the other man crossing a simple bridge is gripping his cloak, nearly being swept away.
On the left, a few masts of sailing boats are seen, indicating Yokkaichi port. The stream is the Mie River (currently known as the Mitaki River) which flows into Ise Bay.
Hiroshige skillfully applied bokashi gradation technique in various elements such as the flowing stream, swaying grass and sky. By doing this he succeeded in adding a dynamic impression to the windy day.
