Description

This is one from a group of six prints, based on the Rokkasen (Six Great Poets) of the Heian era (794~1180), chosen by Ki no Tsurayuki, featured in this series by Chobunsai Eishi 鳥文斎栄之.

Three ladies are strolling by the river, and in the distance, two deer can be seen among the mountains. The falling maple leaves indicate the approaching autumn.

The accompanying poem, by Kisen Hoshi, expresses "Although I peacefully and happily live among the wildlife in this poor small hut located in the southeast of the capital, people say I live here because this world is hard."
