At lower right, the artist's name is written as "Shunsho". In the cartouche on the upper right, a poem by Kisen-Hoshi, one of the "Rokkasen", six notable Japanese poets, is written. The poem says: "Waga Iho ha/ Miyako no Tatsumi Shika so Sumu/ Yo ho Ujiyama to Hito ha iu nari 我がいほは（わ）都の辰巳　鹿そ（ぞ）住む　世ほ（を）宇治山と　人は（わ）いふ（う）なり"
