Description

Two courtesans are relaxing on a moonlit balcony in an autumn evening.

The lady sitting is holding a Japanese long pipe in her left hand. Both ladies appear relaxed and are enjoying the autumn evening.

The title is read "南驛秋凮 Nan-eki Aki Kaze", which translate to "the south station and autumn wind", though the meaning is unclear. The artist, Katsukawa Shunsho, used some unusual kanji characters.

The kimono pattern and ladies' hair lines are all carefully carved and printed in detail.
