Description

You can see a version of this print carved and printed by Dave here.

These were the notes by Dave when he made his reproduction: "This scene of a kimono-clad woman in the snow one of the most iconic images in the entire ukiyo-e tradition - is a creation of Suzuki Harunobu. The same design was issued a number of times, but seems to have originally been part of a series entitled ‘Fashionable Flowers of the Four Seasons’, of course representing winter. According to the iconography of the day, she also represents Sagi Musume, the Heron Maiden of legend".

In this particular version of the print, beautiful karazuri blind-embossing has been used on the beautiful woman's over-kimono, and her head-covering and sash, as well as the snow on the ground.
