A monkey trainer, his monkey, and several young women cross the Sumida River in a boat in this print by Masanobu. One woman plays the shamisen while another plays a drum, and the small monkey, wearing a little hat, sits right at the front of the boat. The trainer and the woman all wear elaborately patterned kimono, suggesting they live a lavish lifestyle. Some villagers and a torii gate can be seen in the distance.
