Description
This scene of a kimono-clad woman in the snow one of the most iconic images in the entire ukiyo-e tradition - is a creation of Suzuki Harunobu. The same design was issued a number of times, but seems to have originally been part of a series entitled ‘Fashionable Flowers of the Four Seasons’, of course representing winter. According to the iconography of the day, she also represents Sagi Musume, the Heron Maiden of legend
