Description

The reflected image of the teahouse girl, Takashima Ohisa, as she applies lip paste, is depicted by Katsukawa Shuncho from a unique angle using a mirror.

While there's no question about the artist's ability to portray the innocence and the beauty of the young lady, we would like to focus on the craftsmanship of that era. The hairlines are incredibly delicate, and every detail - whether it be the facial lines, nose, eyes, eyebrows, neckline, ear, or even the teeth - is carved and printed with incredibly high skill. The original version of this design was created around 1792–1794.
