Description

Here we see a courtesan who has just stepped out of a bath. She fans herself while her kamuro (child helper) offers her what may be some tea.

Her fan is decorated with a scene of a willow and the mon (crest) of the Ichimatsu family of kabuki actors. The original print was a benizuri-e, but this reproduction is made as a Nishiki-e using multiple color blocks.

The checkered pattern of her kimono also features Ichimatsu moyo (市松模様), a symbol of her family.
