Description

Kiyonaga depicted two women in a very attractive manner. One appears to have just come out of her bath, wearing a yukata (a thin cotton kimono) and drying her perspiration. The other is seated in the bathtub, washing her neck with a tenugui (Japanese towel).

The gaze of the standing lady is directed towards a small black dog with a charming red ribbon. The dog is also looking back at the lady, which creates a humorous scene.

This print is from Comparison of Alluring Beauties (色競艶婦姿), a reproduction of an original work made in 1781.
