Description

The gallant-looking man is aiming at something with the bow; by following the arrow's direction, we find a bird perched on the willow tree branch. A woman and a girl appear to be fearful watching the bird, anticipating it being shot.

Koryusai 湖竜斎 depicted a very tense scene, one that might even make the viewer hold their breath for a moment, while at the same time silently urging the bird, "Fly away!"

He depicted each person's facial expression very well. Additionally, the kimono and obi patterns are so nicely drawn that ladies in the time must have used them as a referenced for their fashion items.
