Description

The artist is Torii Kiyonaga (1752-1815), and this is from "Mount Fuji in the Four Seasons." It appears that he focussed on the two ladies and didn't spend much effort on the scenery.

Kiyonaga is well known for drawing tall figures (with the head being only one-eighth of the total stature) and several figures in one scene instead of a single lady.

In the image, one lady is viewing Mt. Fuji while shielding from the sun with her fan, and the other is smoking with one sleeve pulled down. It appears to be a hot summer day.
