Description

The artist is Ippitsusai Buncho (一筆斎文調), whose birth year and other information is not clear. However, some collaborative prints are known, together with Suzuki Harunobu (鈴木春信), Koryusai (湖竜斎), and Katuskawa Shunsho (勝川春章).

In the upper right scroll-like cartouche, the text reads "Konatsu Takamura 小なつ 高むら," presumably courtesan Konatsu in Takamura house.

We wondered about the long white object sticking out of the kiseru, a Japanese pipe, held by the woman on the right. Our guess is that it is a cleaning material, presumably Koyori, a twisted paper string.
