Description

This print 'Kamioki 髪置' is from a series 'Fuzoku Azuma no Nishiki 風俗東之錦' by Torii Kiyonaga.

Kamioki is a ceremony for girls who have turned three years old; as seen in the image, their hair is shaved, leaving only a part on the top.

Kiyonaga depicted the details of kimono and obi-sash patterns, as well as hairstyles. His beauties are characterized by their eight-head-tall proportions.
