Description
The most eye-catching spot in the print is the lady's white, gorgeously embossed kimono, which is only possible to express through the woodblock technique. The slender lady appears to be enjoying fishing while the other lady, who is seated in the boat, gazes somewhere far away.
While Harunobu often avoids depicting backgrounds and simply covers them with flat color, here in this print, he drew the scenery in quite some detail.
This print is from "Eight Elegant Views of Edo," and the poem reads: "Koete koshi/ mine wa amata no/ kumoji yori/ Sumida ga hara ni/ otsuru karigane こえてこし みねは あまたの 雲ぢより 隅田かはらに おつる かりかね."
