Description

A courtesan and a young girl are walking through the snow. From behind the ladies, a somewhat unkempt servant follows, sheltering the courtesan with a large umbrella. Snow is piling up heavily on both umbrellas.

The Karazuri technique, or blind embossing, is applied to the falling snow, the ground, and the lady's undergarment.

The artist, Koryusai 湖竜斎, depicted the servant in contrast to the two beautiful ladies, with his unshaven chin, bare feet, plain kimono, and an appearance of enduring the coldness.
