Description

On a snowy day, a beautiful lady holds an umbrella covered with snow, standing on one foot as her attendant removes the snow stuck to her tall wooden geta sandals. She maintains her balance by placing her left hand on the servant's right shoulder.

The young lady wears a gorgeous obi belt and a beautiful kimono, decorated with chrysanthemum flowers and the kanji character 壽 (kotobuki), both of which indicate that she is attending a celebratory event. Koryusai skillfully captured this attractive scene, depicting the two figures with great detail.

The snow on the umbrella, the ground, and the faces are the original color of the paper. (We suggest making two small holes in a plain piece of paper and comparing those spots by covering the rest of the image!)
