Description
This is from Hokusai’s famous ‘One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji’
This seems to be a view from Suruga Bay, and even today, the same view of the mountain can be seen (in clear weather) from the Shinkansen trains. The season here is likely late spring, with a snow cap still covering much of the mountain.
In the left foreground, many small boats are depicted and a few birds are also drawn in the sky; both in black. By careful observation, we find that he used numerous dots in many places, all in different colors and shapes - those in the right foreground, the bushes along the seashore and more.
It seems that Hokusai never stopped exploring new artistic methods.
