Courtesan Karagoto is opening (or closing) a scroll, which appears to contain drawings, possibly accompanied by poems. The address of the house, the names of the courtesan and Kamuro (apprentices) are seen in the upper left corner, decorated with plum blossoms.

The hairlines, eyebrows, and eyes are meticulously carved and printed showing craftsman's high skills. While not much information remains about this courtesan, it is obvious that she belonged to one of the highest ranks.
