Description
This lady has just come out of the bath and looks very relaxed. In Japan, people enjoy bathing by sitting in a deep tub, so she is now wiping her face with her ‘tenugui’, a Japanese towel.
The name of this lady is not shown in this print, but in another version, it is written on the upper left as Minami-eki Ha-jirushi (南駅は印), which indicates, that the first sound of her name is 'Ha' and she is in Minami (now Shinagawa). People who are knowledgeable about these ladies would have been able to identify the name instantly.
The robe she is wearing is a ‘yukata’, and she would change into kimono later.
The subdued color used for her clothing and towel rather emphasize her youthful beauty.
