Description
‘Courtesan Hitomoto (一と本) of the Monji-ro (文字楼) House’ She is wearing multi-layered kimono, with a neck sash patterned with paulownia leaves and flowers. The several hair pins and the comb in her hair arrangement are made of tortoiseshell, and the red hair bow at the back of the hairdo is very attractive. The gradation (bokashi) on the comb is very nicely done showing the transparency of the material.
The pillow she is holding is covered by several sheets of thin paper which can be peeled off one by one to keep the surface of the pillow clean.
