From ‘Anthology of Poems: The Love Section’
The title of this image is ‘A love of a young lady’(娘の恋)depicting a young woman in love. A fan held by her right hand and her clothing indicate the summer season.
“In some version of this print the title is ‘Arawaruru Koi’ あらわるる恋. It seems the title was changed.”

The ‘Kewari’(毛割) technique is fully applied to the woman’s hairlines and eyebrows making the beauty so natural and attractive. Can you image how many strands of hair lines were carved in each millimeter! The ‘Toshi-ge’(通し毛)technique is used to produce the curled hairs behind her ear and other tousled hair on her temple. Those immaculately carved delicate lines enhance her allure.
