Description
The love poem at the upper left tells that the river - the image next to the poem - is the Tamagawa, referencing the courtesan's name ‘Ide Tamagawa’ (井出玉川). Her hairlines are carved with the 'Yaege' technique, in which the hairs are arranged into groups. The 'kara-zuri' (空摺り)embossing technique on her collar adds to the richness and depth of the design.
