Description

This is from the same series as the previous one in this set. 'Teppo' (gun) refers to the lowest rank in Yoshiwara, named due to the risk of contracting venereal disease from a single sexual encounter.

She reveals her chest, the hair is unkempt, and holds paper in her mouth, appears lewd, sad and hopeless. While Utamaro mostly drew beautiful and healthy women, he also observed and depicted such women in unfortunate circumstances.
