Description
A range of spirits appear in an inexplicable tendril of smoke emanating from an inkwell in this kuchi-e titled Bijin Shinkirō. A beautiful woman holding a fan looks on in surprise. An official's cap and a stylus lay in the foreground next to the inkwell- perhaps the woman was writing to her lover when the spirits appeared.
This kuchi-e was designed by Mishima Shōsō and appeared in volume 2, issue 11, of Bungei Kurabu, published in Meiji 29 (1896).
