Description
A beautiful woman cools herself in the shade of a teahouse on a hot day. A mountain rises behind her, and it seems that the title of the print, "Scenic Beauty", refers to both the woman and the mountain. The frontispiece appeared in volume 13, issue 10 of Bungei Kurabu, published in Meiji 40(1907).
While Mishima Shōsō (1856–1928), the artist of this print, started out as a painter, he later became interested in illustration and woodblock prints. Apart from his kuchi-e prints, he was known for his kacho-ga (bird-and-flower prints) and floral prints.
