Two women in beautiful modern kimono read a love letter together in this kuchi-e by Kajita Hanko. Their finely-carved hair falls over their shoulders, their casual appearance suggesting they are alone. The frontispiece appeared in volume 12, issue 2 of Bungei Kurabu, published in Meiji 39 (1906).
