Description
Two courtesans read a letter together while another admires the moon on a warm night. A few red dots can be seen in the distance - boats, perhaps, as, judging from the pattern of waves and a fishing net on one of the courtesan's kimono, they are near the sea. This print is from the Minami Jūni Kō (美南見十二候, "Twelve Months in the South") series of prints by Kiyonaga. This print is an o-ban nishiki-e ("large size brocade print"), also known as an o-nishiki.
