Interestingly, we have been unable to find a woodblock print by Kaigetsudō that matches this one. However, the Idemitsu Museum of Arts holds a very similar painting by Kaigetsudō in their collection, and, although the kimono design is different, it seems possible that this woodblock print was adapted from the painting. This particular reproduction is a tan-e or beni-e, a sumizuri-e (print made using black pigment only) with orange pigment added by hand (using a brush).
