Description
This series of senjafuda prints pairs illustrations by Eisho (永昇) of kabuki characters from different plays with Chinese-style nanga illustrations by Shoshu (樵舟, possibly artist Kashima Shoshu (加島樵舟)). Each print is in the yon-cho fuda (four-slip) format and has a title panel designed to resemble a manuscript book. The title panel gives the names of the two artists, the title of each play, the scene depicted, and the name of the character depicted. Both the carving and printing of the set have been delicately executed, and karazuri blind-embossing has even been used on some prints. This set of senjafuda is probably one of the most well-produced in the collection, so please, feast your eyes!
