Description

This print depicts actor Ichikawa Danjûrô IX as Toraya Tôkichi in the play Uiro ("The Medicine Peddler"). The image is based on this ukiyo-e, the seventeenth print of the "The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays" (Kabuki jûhachiban) series published by Hasegawa Sumi in the Meiji period.
