Description

This print depicts actor Ichikawa Danjûrô IX as Juteikô Kan'u in the play Kan'u ("The Chinese General Guan Yu"). The image is based on this ukiyo-e, the fourth print of the "The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays" (Kabuki jûhachiban) series published by Hasegawa Sumi in the Meiji period.
