Description
This is the "upper board" of the book in which the senjafuda have been pasted. Senjafuda were very seldom published in the book format, and it is much more likely that a member of the senjafuda group has pasted in each print as they received them. Weaved cloth with a vine-and-leaf pattern has been pasted over the upper board, and the central daisen title slip has been left blank, another hint that the book was bought separately and not published (in which case it would almost certainly have a printed or manuscript title on the slip). Simply put, the book is a scrapbook of senjafuda and other prints the collector has decided to preserve.
This binding is almost identical to that of another set of kabuki-related senjafuda in the collection; it seems probable the two books belonged to the same collector.
