This print depicts actor Ichikawa Danjûrô IX as Kazusa Akushichibyôe, with an unknown actor as Shigetada, in the play Kagekiyo. The image is based on this ukiyo-e, the tenth print of the "The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays" (Kabuki jûhachiban) series published by Hasegawa Sumi in the Meiji period.
