Description

This print depicts actor Ichikawa Danjûrô IX as Aotake Gorô in the play Oshimodoshi ("The Demon Repeller"). The image is based on this ukiyo-e, the ninth print of the "The Eighteen Great Kabuki Plays" (Kabuki jûhachiban) series published by Hasegawa Sumi in the Meiji period.
