Description
The flowering morning glory tells us that this is mid-summer, and its bamboo support provides a perch for the bunting.
Utamaro positioned the colorful rooster with his long curving black tail stretching across the image, in strong contrast to his partner, who is almost hidden behind him.
This print, in comparison to many others in this series, which use delicate tints, is drawn and colored quite boldly.
