Description
A penduline tit and bush warbler face off in this print by Utamaro. The tit (right) seems to have almost fallen off its branch in surprise at the sudden arrival of the warbler. The calligraphy has been delicately carved and printed, and the intricate feather patterns on the birds' chests and wings show great attention to detail.
