Description
The great tit is almost hidden by Utamaro, partially concealed perching upside down among the leaves.
On the chrysanthemum - which is depicted with no border lines - the petals are created with an embossing technique, and the very subtle yellow tints emphasize the gorgeous impression of the flowers.
It is said that a Japanese robin - perched on the bamboo in this image - sings with some of the flavor of a horse neighing. Is this why the great tit is hiding among the chrysanthemum leaves?
