Description
Falcon and shrike are drawn on the same level on the plum tree but the viewer can easily imagine that the big bird is perching at a higher level, looking down towards the smaller bird, which seems to be intimidated, and timidly looks up.
The falcon’s feather patterns are depicted differently according to the location - the neck, outer wing, the second layer of wing, from the base to tip of the tail and so on - that make the bird seem real. And the golden yellow color of the eye emphasizes its sharp glance towards its prey.
The small shrike on the left is bravely trying to resist the falcon. The shape of the beak and the angle of its neck clearly depict its intention to resist the far larger predator.
