Description
This print, from Hokusai's Shokoku Taki Meguri (諸国滝巡り, "Tour of Famous Waterfalls of Japan") series, shows two travellers looking up at the waterfall in the town of Yōrō in Mino Province while other travellers relax in a nearby rest house.
The use of bokashi gradation in several areas adds greatly to the dramatic effect of the stunning print, but, in terms of printing, one of the highlights must be the spray of the waterfall towards the bottom of the print, each tiny white speck carefully printed.
