Description
This print combines two chûtanzaku (slightly wide tanzaku prints) by Hiroshige. On the left is Shin Yoshiwara Emonzaka Shûgetsu (新吉原衣紋阪秋月, "Autumn Moon at Emonzaka in the New Yoshiwara"), and on the right is Nihonbashi Setchû no Kei (日本橋雪中之景, "View of Nihonbashi Bridge in Snow"). Both prints are from Hiroshige's series Tôto Meisho (東都名所, "Famous Views of the Eastern Capital").
The two landscapes seem to offer a comparison of the most beautiful scenes of autumn and winter in Edo (Tokyo). Bokashi gradation has been used liberally on both sides of the print.
