Description
This image of a narcissus, a spring flower in Japan representing "hope", closes Utamaro's set of two books on flowers of the four seasons and the lives of courtesans. Like the other prints of flowers in the set, this image is quite simple, but attention to detail can be seen in the careful carving of the flower petals at the bottom of the print.
